by Lauren Oliver
*Future Review posts review an ARC or Galley of a book that isn’t coming out for awhile. I have just a quick snippet with my initial reactions and will post a more in-depth review closer to when the book is released! So, tune in.*
Lena is counting down the days until her procedure. She is so close to being 18 and out of danger from contracting the disease amor deliria nervosa, formerly known as love. She is ready to be matched to her future husband and hopefully be placed in a local college for school until her friend, Hana, ducks under a No Trespassing sign that takes them to Alex. Alex, who is mysterious, cute and knows things that turn Lena’s view of the world upside-down.
Delirium is the first book in a dystopian trilogy by Lauren Oliver and I loved it. I had to stop bringing it to work with me so I wouldn’t be tempted to read under my desk. The characters are compelling and it’s positively heartbreaking to read about those that have been “cured” and are unable to put their feelings into words. A great love story and a twisting and turning plot made Delirium an excellent, fun read.
Delirium will be released by HarperTeen on February 2, 2011, although you can try to win an ARC over on Goodreads this month!
